There are different facets of Islands of LA and many projects cross over into more than one of these. For background on the intention/philosophy of this in-public art project, please click here.

• Events - on traffic islands with small groups of people held in a safe and responsible manner where you can have fun thinking.
  • Upcoming Activites:Love Apple Island + Tomato Talks, Island Law, Side Street Island
  • Recent Activites: I Was Here/Who Owns Public Space?, Who Creates Public Space?

• Signs - invitations to the public to think and participate in a projects about Los Angeles, public land use, art, community and discussion/cultural interchange. Current signs: Shift Do Art Anytime, Islands of LA Nat'l Park.

• Geography, People & History - the use of traffic islands to explore, understand and document the city of Los Angeles. This includes stories/history of traffic islands, Island Dwellers (profiles of inhabitants), a geotagged map of traffic islands in LA, a submitted images geotagged map, a catalogue of other projects on traffic islands.

• Private Space - projects in private space that exmaines connections between public and private space and the idea of the public sphere. Salon at Farmlab, I Was Here (Highways Performance Space & Gallery), Who Creates Public Space? (Hugely Tiny Arts Festival)

• Blog - posts related to the above projects that also servces as a forum inviting people to post their comments and participate in the discussion online.
